Hello everyone,  I have been visiting survivalblog for several years.  Thanks to Mr. Rawles for his knowledge and sound advice.
We are from rural Missouri and not a day goes by without working to be more prepared.

I found SurvivalBlog via a now forgotten e-news article nearly a year ago, and it's been a near-daily source of inspiration and valuable info.  Keep up the good work, JWR.

Howdy, Clark a.k.a. vwbaybus!

So, is your handle the name of your vehicle?  If so, how good would you say it is as a survival vehicle?

Thank you! I have been reading alot of the posts on here and reading alot of the survival blog. GREAT STUFF! I also have been speaking to my wife about prepping and she is all for it. First stop. the gun shop!...My 17 yr old daughter thinks I am going to be doing all this for the end of the world and also says we are paranoid but it will be easy to turn her from the "dark side"  lol My 14 yr old son and I were looking at rifles last night and he found  one that will be good starters for us and then he wants to become the "sniper" of our retreat. He is very enthusiastic about prepping which is good for me because it will help us stay close and I can keep his young skull full of mush on the right track. Also, my brothers' roommate is a manager of a bookstore and i asked her to check on Patriots and Crisis Preparedness Handbook. I will get these by this weekend, if she doesnt have to order them and can't wait to start digesting them.

Hello!  I am new here too! Wow, this is a big forum!  I know there are no shortcuts in life, but I think I need a Cliffs notes version before TSHTF.

Well then, I've come to the right place....and i bought my first shotgun yesterday (ok, I know its a .410.....baby steps) and I am getting my kids the most wicked (yet cheap) pellet gun I can find.  I am a recent young widow with a 12 and 13 yr old daughter.

I have 6 mths food

I gotta get out of the city soon, fast and cheap

I have tons of fishing gear like out the wazoo, I hate fishing it was my late DH's.  I sold the most valueable reels already.

I have lite camping gear

More on the to do list than the done side.  Where does one begin?  Is there a priority list?   :BangHead:

My condonlences on your loss. It would be scary, especially with that. You seem very strong though. The kids are lucky.

Keep asking questions. Look inside. Look at BOB's and BOL's for it seems that you are leaning there. Yet things can happen even at home, if necessary. The flee isn't always possible. But getting friends withing the same mindset is always good. Visit the Where We Be thread too. This place is only overwhelming for a very short while. People are good here and very helpful. You'll find your niche.

Kudos to you my dear. Seems family is important, even in strife. I applaud your strength. You have it. It's obvious.

Peace
