Second BTP Wyoming Letter
« on: February 26, 2004, 02:57:47 pm »

Excerpt:

Open Letter #2 from Boston T. Party To all Free Staters (NH and WY)

November 10, 2003

The NH/FSP muttering I'm hearing about my Wyoming initiative is sounding increasingly collectivistic. Apparently, my critics expect every free stater (present and future) to join the NH bandwagon, and those who do not are "splitters."

It reminds me of the Highlander declaring, "There can be only one!"

Here is Kenneth Royce's complete response to the complaints his first open letter to the FSP generated.

Turns out I was fascinated then bogged down with BTP essays.  This is a fine read....

Boston's Reply to Critics of "Molon Labe"

This paragraph particularly intrigued me.

"Most libertarians are highly intellectual... to a fault. When they finally choose to get rugged and grow some ferocity -- when they actually become armed and deadly foes to tyranny -- THEN the freedom movement will finally see some real progress. But not a moment before. No oppression was ever overthrown by a bunch of readers and philosophers. Liberty is usually dirty and bloody work, and if we don't have the option of providing our masters with a real fight, then they will perennially call our wussy bluff."

Regards, Danl

I think I must adopt a signature line here:     "No oppression was ever overthrown by a bunch of readers  and philosophers. Liberty is usually dirty and bloody work, and if we don't have the option of providing our masters with a real   fight, then they will perennially call our wussy   bluff."  Quote from Boston T. Very interesting stuff!

On the bright side, the contention between various FSP's may be useful if only as an indicator (to the sheople) that there are many out here in the real world that believe FSP's don't go far enough with their plans to rein in governments.

This possibility, of course, presupposes that the existence of FSP's ever reaches the mainstream collective consciousness, such as it is.

I've read his Gun Bible, and I like what he has to say on the subject of firearms, tho I don't agree with all of it.  Learned a lot from it anyway.

His easily readable style lends accessibility to his Libertarian philosophies, and his insistence that too much intellectualism is hurting rather than helping our cause at the moment.  He's right on that score and I doubt any of us would try to deny it.

It was surprising to hear him give voice to the barely-tolerant attitude towards alternative lifestyles.  And to hear him endorse creationism over evolution.  Oh...kay........     I think that eventually we'll find that the biggest majority is an aggregate of oppressed minorities.  Everybody deserves to be equally free.

OK, you are right, here it is. http://www.freecolorado.com/2004/02/bostonreply.html
Boston says that many homosexuals are fine people with great contributions to humanity "despite their perverse sexual practices."

I'm assuming here that he finds sodomy "perverse" when committed by gays but OK when performed by straights.  Or who knows? Maybe he thinks that God disapproves of *any* kind of sex that cannot result in reproduction.  Kinda like how the Catholic Church allows you to shake your penis only three times after urination; more than that and it is sin.

Down the street there's a lesbian couple that have been together for years.  I'm supposed to believe that this loving couple "engage in perverse sexual practices"?  I presume that they perform oral on each other, and so performing oral on your female partner is "perverse" unless you have a pair of testicles between your legs?

All I can say is that I'm glad that I am not a prisoner of fear and superstition.

That some people are gay is of no more consequence than that some people are left-handed, or that some people prefer coffee over tea. I can't really prove my position, and Boston can't prove his.

Boston wrote:
Quote
My point is that highly politicized large numbers of liberal homosexuals are an intentionally destructive force. (E.g., suing the Boys Scouts of America was a blatant and obscene act of judicial violence.)

Highly politicized large numbers of liberals  - be they gay or straight - are an intentionally destructive force, if their intent is to coerce others.  Suing the Boy Scouts - a private organization! - to demand inclusion was total BS and an abuse of the legal system.  Were I the judge presiding, I'm pretty sure I would have ruled against the plaintiffs and rendered judgment in favor of defendant for court costs and attorney fees, and I'd probably even throw in some punitivpunitiveould find some statutes or caselaw to allow it.

Highly politicized large numbers of conservatives are an intentionally destructive force, be they gay or straight, if their intent is to coerce others.

Quote
Yet I've never demanded that the government step in and force others to value my beliefs and practices as equal to their own, which is a stated goal of the "gay rights" movement.

Boston hasn't, but look at society. Everyone is taxed to provide free schooling, i.e., we're all forced to subsidize the heterosexual lifestyle.  I know that Boston doesn't demand that government step in a force people to support involuntarily the government school system, I'm just pointing out that the reality in America today. Overall, there seems to me to be a lot more coercion of gays by straights than the other way around, notwithstanding the suit against the Boy Scouts.

Fortunately, the liberty movement is not about forcing others to be "just like me," or to support - either morally or financially - each other's choices, or accept each other's wacky beliefs.

Speaking of wacky beliefs.....

Bosten says
Quote
Evolution vs. Creationism  -  Look, both can be considered mere theories which must embraced by faith due to insufficient scientific evidence.

The theory of gravity and the theory of relativity are both "mere theories."    Boston misunderstands the meaning of the word "theory" as it is used by scientists.  Creationism is not a "theory" in any meaningful scientific sense of the word.

Quote
So, which takes the greater faith? Evolution, hands down.

This is embarrassing.  <shrug>  Even Lew Rockwell has been pushing that "intelligent design" nonsense, wants it to be taught alongside biology.   :bs: What's next? Should we present a chapter on astrology in physics class?  After all, shouldn't we "teach the controversy"?   :puke:

Discussion of Boston's religious beliefs is not pertinent to either the FSW subforum or TCF as a whole. Please take it elsewhere.
