I pulled out of my bank owned safety deposit box this winter after the bank decided they needed me to submit to a scan of my hand everytime I entered the vault rather than have an employee take the time to let me in.

Thanks for pointing out the Transflash/microSD device, which I hadn't heard of.  I've been carrying my data around in a full-size SD card in my wallet, but I think it's gotten damaged -- the tiny microSD would be easier to protect in a wallet, I think.

As for hiding it... well, if I had a choice of hiding a fingernail-sized batch of valuable data inside a US government facility, or anywhere else on the planet, I think I'd prefer the latter.
