This is my first post and I thought I'd post a link for a music video that I'd recently ran across.  I enjoy looking for interesting and amusing videos when I need a break from more serious matters.  It helps me keep sane, or as close to it as I come.

It's 'Freedom' by Daddy X of the Kottonmouth Kings.  They're an in-your-face group that appears to enjoy smoke, drink, ladies and asserting their rights.

Interesting, but written by someone who has a very real lack of understanding in the way things work. I don't mean politics so much, but the idea
of the American Indians not living in poverty (before the white guys landed) is pretty daffy. At least, my family had many hard times, depending on conditions
and how well the tribesfolk could prepare.
I'm thinking this'd be more in the coffee-shop-anarchist vein.

Yes, it's art, not history or well-reasoned philosophy.

One of my favorite songs from way back is Neil Young's 'Cortez the Killer'.  It too has the naive point of view that pre-Columbian America was paradise for the American Indian.  A silly, inaccurate idea, but still in my mind, a powerful song.

Here's another video for your consideration, this one is from 'Pokerface':

Like I said in my initial post, I enjoy finding and viewing some interesting or amusing videos as a break from more serious endeavors.  Here's one that's not musical or political, just funny:

Not at all.  You'd have to define what you mean by 'poverty'.  I'm sure the American Indians that lived that way thought they were quite well off.  They sure as heck didn't want to change.  Then again, they didn't think in the same materialistic ways that the whites did.

You probably nailed it on the head there.

Well, not having been there, I can only relate what Grandpa told me (he was an Injun). Grumblin' tummies are pretty much a universally recognized sign of hard times, and they were so entrenched in their conservatism that they didn't seem to even know things could change anyway, til the white folks came around (for better and worse).
As for flannel suits, Hummers, and fancy european coffee makers, that's where I'd agree with you, but most of the folks, who wanted to make Grandpa their political pet, love their comforts (while of course, wondering aloud why petty commoners really *need* SUVs and those nasty gun things).
