Wherefore Art Thou, Patricia Neill?
« on: September 04, 2003, 09:46:37 pm »

I really loved Patricia Neill's articles on Wolfe's Lodge and Lew Rockwell. I did a web search today looking for newer articles. She seems to have disappeared sometime in 2000. Does anyone know what's up with her? Did she drop out, or, heaven forbid, kick the bucket?

I'm not really sure who you mean, unless you mean the actress Patricia Neal, who starrred in _The Fountainhead_ with Gary Cooper way back in the day. As far as I know *she* is still alive, if not very well.

Patricia Neill (spelled correctly) is/was a college professor, if I remember correctly, who wrote a number of freedom oriented essays at the links in my original message (the first of which I just fixed).

Nothing like tripping over this 5 years late but I also enjoyed the writings of Patty Neill on Wolfe's Lodge <A href="http://www.billstclair.com/lodge/Neill.shtml"> and on Lew Rockwell <A href="http://www.lewrockwell.com/neill/neill-arch.html">

And yes, the year 2000 seems to be the last we've seen of her musings.

Did you hear anything of what she is doing/writing these days?  Is she teaching yet?

Last I heard of Patty she was living on a commune in the midwest, married to a man she describes as a "toothless logger," and working for a well-known charity as a PR person.

That was a couple of years ago. (That we lost touch is more my doing than hers; I was  in a time of withdrawal & not up to carrying on a conversation.)

I don't think she's writing anything, except perhaps for her own amusement.

Yeah ... it's been way, way, way too long.

Welcome, Anson MacDonald.

Mike ... if you're the Mike I'm thinking you are, then you're another person I haven't kept up with faithfully enough. All my fault. I'm a terrible correspondent. But if you are "that Mike" -- that very bold Mike -- I'm delighted to see you here.

Even if you're some other Mike  ... welcome.

And in either case, hellos to Patty, who so many people still miss.

I've had opportunity to landline with she..
« Reply #10 on: February 05, 2009, 10:11:32 pm »

Mutual friend was being cared for by Patty, his circumstances were dire. Folks took him in, and I had great opportunity to talk to she on landline quite a few times.

Been a year or more since, but folks were doing well and fairly happy "out in the woods".

I owe the folks a huge dept for what they helped my buddy with. I had no clue, and no ability at time he was hurting to help. Patty and crew stepped up and saved his life...

Think Kemp registered, he'd know more, and have some contact info.

Glad to hear that Patty is doing well.
Last I heard from her she was going to run off and marry a logger in Iowa. I do hope that is working well for her.
If anyone has contact with her, please let her know that Bedoodah still thinks fondly of her.

I just posted a link to an excerpt from "The Secret Freedom Fighter" to my forum, that Patricia recommended back in 1999. Anyone here ever read, "A Good Citizen in a Bad Country" by Jefferson Mack?

Good to hear Patricia is doing well and it's also good to hear from you again, Claire! I was an avid reader of Hardyville!

Lots of water under the bridge since '09. As far as I know, Claire seldom visits TMM now. A shame... but there it is. Have not heard from Patty in a lot longer than that.

Although I've done the same and dropped back into the woodwork, I've wondered how Claire and Patty are doing. Posting today about "A Good Citizen in a Bad Country" brought back memories, so I searched on "Patricia Neill" and that brought me to TMM.
